Researchers analyzed spinal fluid, brain tissue, and saliva from Alzheimer’s patients—both deceased and living— researchers found evidence of P. gingivalis. Gingipains, this is a toxic enzyme produced by P. gingivalis, were
actually found in 96 percent of the 53 brain tissue samples studied, with higher levels detected in those
with the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease.
